Dr. d’Avoine (* August 10th, 1963) – upon completing his studies in law and business administration at the University of Trier and the University of Bonn, he began his articled clerkship in 1990. He then received his doctorate in law with his thesis on „Die Entwicklung des Grundsatzes der Verhältnismäßigkeit“ (“The Development of the Principle of Commensurability”). In October 1993, he successfully completed the second state law examination and began working as an attorney almost immediately thereafter. The bar association in Düsseldorf awarded Dr. d’Avoine the title of “Specialized Attorney for Tax Law” in 1997 and the title of “Specialized Attorney for Commercial and Corporate Law” in 2007.
Dr. d’Avoine concentrated his efforts on the fields of company and corporate law as well as restructuring, recovery and insolvency law right from the beginning of his professional career as an attorney. In 1997 he founded a law firm with another attorney, Michael Schmidt-Modrow. After Schmidt-Modrow´s untimely passing in September 2006, the founding partner, d’Avoine, resolutely continued the adopted strategy utilizing an effective and powerful team of attorneys and other skilled employees.
Even today, he and his team principally deal in corporate law, and recovery mandates as well as insolvency administrative duties. The particular focus of his insolvency activities is on the automotive sector and metalworking industry, mechanical works services, transport and logistics as well as physicians and health care.
Attorney-at-law, Dr. d’Avoine, is fluent in English, French, and Spanish besides his native language, German. He is, among other things, a member of the German VID e.V. (Registered Association of Insolvency Administrators), the German-Spanish Lawyers Association (Deutsch-Spanischen-Juristen-Vereinigung/Asociación Hispano-Alemana de Juristas AHAJ) and INSOL Europe (European Organization of Insolvency Professionals – specializing in corporate recovery and bankruptcy). He regularly publishes expert papers and holds lectures on corporate, tax and insolvency law. He is the co-author of the the Buth/Hermanns work: “Restrukturierung, Sanierung, Insolvenz” (“Restructuring, Recovery, Insolvency) and the author of “Arzt und Praxis in Krise und Insolvenz” (“Physician and Practice in Crisis and Insolvency”).
